Well, as part of my current refresh process on my 1967 ex A-Sedan Camaro, I have an issue with the brakes. The FIA will not accept slotted rotors, nor 2 pieces ones (unless they look exactly the same as original). I have looked for race quality JL8 replacement rotors but could not find any. The best ones are slotted, and the stock replacement ones seem to be all made in Asia and quality is said to be poor (at least for a road race use).

What do the guys in historic Trans-Am use today ?

Any input on how to find good JL8 rotors would be much appreciated.

Are they the same as the corvette rotors of those years?   At least I believe the OTC disk brake (service duty) rear ends ones were....

Did you try Moser Engineering, or Lonestar Caliper Co. ?

If that can not supply what you are looking for, I'm sure they can point you in the right direction. Very knowledgeable ,and they don't deal in junk.

There are some guys running in Historic Trans-Am that are running the basic rotors available through Lonestar.

I have had excellent  results using EBC  rotors.  Most all of their products are  sourced from  the UK or Europe.  Read about them here:

I'm looking at a similar predicament...I'm in the process of piecing together a trans-am clone and I need to get a brake system that matches original as close as possible. Any suggestions on where to go? Willwood and Baer make some nice stuff, but it does not look original at all.

I've got a 'service duty' disk brake differential (service duty 4.11:1 POSI - ie. more plates, higher spring pressures) with the caliper brackets for the Corvette brakes; also have the appropriate Corvette rotors and calipers...  This was from Bob Christianson's '69 Z28 TA /IMSA racer that has been on the floor of my shop for 25 yrs or more.  I had planned to put this in my car at some point, but with my changed plans, I will never use this on my car.
