I had mentioned this car in the other "Barn find" post. I thought some might be interested. This car was found in a farmer's storage barn about a year ago. It is a 1962 Impala SS 409, 4spd, 4:10 gear, Convertible. It had been sitting since the 70's and had extensive mouse and rat damage. It is a very complete original car and I think I might have tried to keep it as a survivor, but because of the damage the new owner decided to do a complete frame off restoration. He paid less than $5000. for it. Wish I could be so lucky.

I'm with you on keeping it a survivor. It looks like it was pretty clean in the later pictures. It can only be a survivor once, but either way, it's going to be beautiful when it's finished.

Here's my version. Car is preparing to go from barn to garage, if I can figure out how to stuff 4 in a three car space. I thought about stacking them like my local Camaro junkyard has done - only I don't have a forklift like he does.

I'm prepared for the "shame on you" remarks. Please don't depress me any more than looking at these pics does already. Any small mammal enthusiasts can get a real thrill reading tracks on the windshield as well - combination of cat and 'coon. True "rat" motored car.

No, it's not a Hugger Orange Z, it's a Cortez L78 disguised as HO, plus a little Daytona thrown in for effect. On a serious note, look at the original paint/firewall line blurb right above the heater box. Black cove paint can still be seen in the trunk area.

Those are trumpet vine remnants with some blackberry canes growing inside the barn, or were. Mud dauber nest the size of a grapefruit attached to the taillight for additional camouflage.

Just buy two 4-post lifts... stack 'em by 2.. and have a space left over for working in..  Smiley

Steve,  looks like a fine dry spot to keep the car, as long as the barn doesn't collapse.  I agree with Gary the 4 post lift work good for storage, and you can park another under it. I bet the car will look like a million bucks the day you roll it out and wash it off... Smiley

 That has to be from a 348, however some 409's had 2 x 4's .
