Original oil line fitting
« on: January 15, 2014, 03:02:33 PM »
Can someone with an original oil pressure gauge in their 69 Z-28 post a picture of the fitting in the rear of the block? I still have the original oil line, which has a female fitting that screws onto the fitting on the back of the block. I bought one of those brass extensions that people sell on eBay, and it is a female fitting. Is there a male/male coupling in between or did someone sell me the wrong part on ebay (shocker!)
Thanks
Buddy
P.s. It shows the extension in the assembly manual, but not a very good pic.

Thanks cook. But I am more confused now! I have the original oil line on my car. It has a female fitting to attach to the oil fitting. Do I have to cut off the orig female fitting and use the compression fitting?

Sounds like you have this fitting on the original line?

Yes Darrell. The female fitting on the oil line looks like the female fitting you pictured.

Do you have the fitting that goes in the block?

I am trying to put the orig tall fitting in. I have the aftermarket fitting in the block, but want it correct. The assembly manual shows a fitting with male threads on both sides, so my female fitting on the oil line will screw on. U17 A3 page 416.

As per Cooks post with the link the one on the left is correct. The one on the right is a repop.

My problem is that my original black oil line still has the female nut on it. It will screw onto the aftermarket fitting on the right. The one on the left is designed to be used with a copper oil line. The AIM shows a fitting that has male threads on both ends. I didn't think this was going to be that difficult.

You will need all of these parts if you want to have the correct factory set up.
