Original 69 disc brake master cylinder cap
« on: January 15, 2014, 03:28:40 AM »
I got my master cylinder back from White Post Restoration today. I told them that I wanted 100% original piece and got the cap back in white zinc. I was expecting gold dichromate. The car is a Dec 68 build. Which is correct? Gold dichromate or white zinc?
Thanks

Lawrence

As Mr Cook said...dichromate. If 69 uses the same cap as the 67 then Long Island Corvette ( http://www.licorvette.com/ ) has a dead-on reproduction including the correct dimples and wording. The price is very good too.

Just make sure it is correct before you get it replated. The later replacements have a bump connecting the front and rear resevoirs

Thanks guys. I spoke to Billy today at White Post and discussed this. He said he would take it back and replate for me. I have the correct cover so I will send it back for the Gold Dichromate.

Good news Lawrence! I'm just curious why they would have done that to begin with???

Does anyone know if the 67 and 69 caps are the same?

Good question. I think one of the guys in the back was just not paying attention and put the cap in the zinc basket. They did my Gold Z MC and brake booster and was very happy with their work. John Z likes this group which is where I got their name. Overall I would recommend them. The Master Cylinder looks good.
