I have a '69 sport coupe that I purchased from the original owner.  It shows 63K on the clock and, although it's been repainted, the interior would tend to support that as the actual mileage.  It is a 307, AT (TH350), PDB, AC car with standard interior.  It is very complete and needs minor body work and paint as well as an engine rebuild (rings).  I bring all of this up as I am going to sell it (I need to thin the herd a little).  I would like to see someone up here give it the TLC and respect it deserves as opposed to selling  it into a life of pro-touring on Ebay.

Are there any objections to me posting it up here with photos and a price to see if someone in the CRG community will take it?

LMK...I'm going out to snap some photos now.

I know team Camaro has a classifieds area, I am not sure why CRG doesn't.
If there is a problem, I think you could safely post pictures of it on CRG and state all the facts about the car and then say you are thinking of selling it, and you would probably get a few PM s of members who would be interested. Just an idea

I'd only be guessing as to why no for sale section here...so I won't offer a guess ;-)

I wanted to start here because there are more people on the CRG that appreciate even the plain janes than do so over at Team Camaro.  Like I said, I was hoping for someone to not turn it into the next Car Craft cover car or another drag car...this seems lie the right place just didn't want to step on any toes since selling stuff has never really been a part of this site.

Your suggestion is not bad but, since I've decided to sell the car, I do want to generate traffic to the post.  Was considering putting for sale in the subject heading.

Just kidding.... Smiley  Here's the scoop:

Bought the car in 2005 from a gentleman in Northridge. My intent was to build it for my oldest daughter (now 15) but she has become a real Corvette C3 nut.  Since we have a '70 LT-1  here waiting to be restored she's opted for it.  Now the '69 307 car needs to find a new home.  I've kept it out doors here in So Cal since but under a very good cover:


He was the original owner and had only a copy of the sales contract from Bliss & Paden in LA.  Purchase price was $3372.  According to the original owner, there was a brown RS right next to this car on the lot.  His wife really wanted it but it was $500 more and he didn't want to spend the cash. So he bought this car and paid the dealer to install a vinyl roof to make his wife happy.   Here is the trim tag:



As you can see, not brown nor a vinyl top when it left Norwood.

I thought it somewhat interesting that a Norwood built car was sold new in LA...not that it didn't happen just a little unique.  

The car was painted at some point during it's life a dark green and then an Earl Schieb white.  Both poor quality repaints...they have flaked off in spots revealling the glossy Frost Green beneath.  Some exterior shots:








The left tail lamp lens has a chunk missing. I believe I have a very good original to replace it (need to check the boxes)

According to original owner he lent the car to his mother-in-law to drive until it was parked in about 2000.  She is responsible for denting the front lower valance, front bumper and cracking the grill.  she apparently did this in a grocery store parking lot.  He said she hit a shopping cart but I think it might have been more like the shopping cart return.   Grin

The car retains it's original issue black plates...something I thought was really cool.

The engine compartment is very complete although dirty.  I need to verify the block as original again (did it years ago, I think, but did not document).  The original owner told me he had his mechanic put heads on the car that would work with unleaded fuel...so I assume that they are not OE.  The car runs but has two problems...a carb that desperately needs a rebuild and a constant stream of blue smoke out the tail pipe.  The brakes are very mushy - I think it is due to a rear wheel cylinder leak.  The same mechanic that installed the "unleaded compliant" heads also recommended a brake job (on a car that was in storage...go figure).  He did a poor job as when one steps firmly on the brakes the car executes a hard right turn.  These are all easily remedied items I just never got to the stage of tearing the car down to restore it.

The interior is really the crown jewel here.  I hesitate to use the word here due to the color but it really is mint.  The pictures do all of the talking:












 The armrests are a little discolored.  The package tray is sun baked.  The dash is a little sticky

I'm happy to take other photos as requested.

Great pics, looks like a solid car. Vinyl top doesn't look bad either, I like the way it goes all the way to the drip rail moulding myself. So I saw the part about the dents, any rust? (yes cars can rust in california) ANd the asking price???

Or are you just trying to create enough buzz to get a few guys to start making you offers? seems like you have to decide wether you are trying to get every nickle out of it (ebay auction etc)
Or if money is not your motivator as you state that you want it to go to somebody that will give it the TLC, then there should be a price stated.
So which is it?
-No price to generate a private bidding war?
-a price listed so someone that has real interest may contact you, knowing there aren't a bunch of side deals going on?

Actually I was doing stuff with the family as opposed to watching this site.  Well, ummm, no bidding war, I was actually following your advice to just post up some details and photos to generate some conversation.  Until I put a price on it the post wasn't an ad.  I was hopping for a CRG member like Kurt to provide some guidance (which he did) so I'd know which way to jump.
