I have a 69 SS big block (52k) and a 69 Z (64k). They are sitting side by side in my shop. The Z is noticeably lower by about an inch.

Any photos available?

I just got my coil spring blasted and I am wondering if I should paint them or clear them. I have seen a lot of restored cars that seem to have the same color springs as mine after blasting. What would be the best or correct finish to use. I don't want to leave them bare as they will rust.

Sandblasting does not produce an original color. New springs don't look like that.

If I had one on file I would have posted it. Did you search this site? Plenty of reference of many parts if you use the advanced search function. If you've never been exposed to various materials then you'd have no idea what they look like before or after the manufacturing processes. Take a stroll through your steel supplier or a local spring shop.

Since I am doing a restored car I am looking for a pic of restored coils. The new ones from HBC for example look similar in finish to mine. So of the nicer restoration jobs I have seen also look similar. Original cars on the hand is another story.

I treated both by front coil springs and rear leafs with Sharkhide, It wipes on clear and leaves no buildup and will not rust. Really great on parts that flex. The  finish soaks in so will not crack or fade.  Here is a picture. I have pictures of my rear springs on another thread here. I don' know how to link to it. Thanks, Scoop

Thanks Scoop. However my coils have just been blasted, so I am looking to get the original look. Same for the Centrelink. My leaf spring are new Bob Harris units and look pretty correct. I will clean my leafs with lacquer thinner and treat them with Sharkhide. Where did you get it. I don't think it is available in Canada.

Thanks for linking this post for me.  You can buy Sharkhide from Eastwood. If you treat your sandblasted front springs They will turn a little darker. I would try it. If you do not like it all you have to do is wipe it off with lacquer thinner.  Thanks, Scoop

to me, it looks between and inch and 2 inches high in front.   I expect to see the top of the fender be approx. even with the top of the tire in front sitting on level ground (for Z28s)..

Level with the front tire is how it sat before and was entirely to low, looked like it had been lowered.
