AGAIN its not impossible to stamp in that location as this one is...  However the one in question is a restamp.

    ;D

 ;)

Paul

Not to beat a dead horse - but wouldn't the plug on the head prevent the gang stamp from being perpendicular to the pad? Is the photo angle giving this illusion? Not doubting you guys - I just want to understand😀

IMHO both the window sticker and POP look too perfect to be 47 years old. (Especially the sticker!) My 68 POP is in pretty good shape but not as "nice" as this one...

it would be pretty hard to get the stamp in there with the plug in - I am going to have to defer to the experts, but I have to agree - not original

From what I have read, the engine pad (or oil filter boss) and tranny were both stamped at the same time using the same gang stamp with the heads on just after the tranny was attached - would be all but impossible to stamp the pad in that location with even depth digits with the plug as shown.

As well, all of the digits look very crisp and too deep compared to the stamping on the JM certified cars I own.

so with the new fake cowl tag, they changed two things:   Paid code  from G-2 to A-A, and the lower entry that was originally '2MG' was changed to '2LG'.   All else seems to be the same unless I missed something important..?    Did they do this just to change the color to black? or is that last change important also??  what is the 2LG??

2M is for Power Glide & 2L is 4 speed.

They also added the 4L - Z28 :)

Says Motor and Trans VIN match the car VIN. So would they most likely have been re-stamped to match the car, or has the car's VIN been altered? Wonder if the motor is even a legitimate 67 302?

FYI - I emailed Mecum two days ago as a potential buyer asking for photos of the engine, tranny and axle stampings with no reply. The posting on Mecum states that they are available??

Nice car.
But it originally was gold and was a L30/M35 and had a POP.

Thanks Kurt - I emailed Mecum for more info, sent the link to JM & was seriously thinking of going to the auction to try buy this car - if it checked out as a 67Z!

What a great site😀

I just heard back from JM - definitely a fake....IMHO Mecum should follow BJ's lead & bring in experts like JM to check out the "rare" original cars.

The $30k 68Z was on CL in multiple locations - I just wonder what the advertiser's angle is?

Rosettes are on my 66 GTO and 67 Chevelle. Not exclusive to Camaros.

My 66 Vettes have them as well...

Gars68tux - I'm no expert, but I don't think the 69's needed the indentation - the smog pump is installed under the alternator.

FYI this car does not have 3L (Z22 RS) on the TT - so no black out rockers :)
