Here's what I was talking about with clevis pins. First of all they're 1/4" & not 5/16 as I mentioned earlier. When tightened into the exhaust manifold, they make their own seat...Joe

There are 2 pieces of foam on the main hose from the manifold to the POA valve. Mine measure 4-3/4 but they were most likely 5". From the bell on the manifold it's 18" to the first one. There is 6" between the 2. I purchased part number 15190971 GM from Ebay. Not possitive if it will work but it was cheap. Like 5 bucks. I can take pictures if you need....Joe

Nice job Lloyd. You now have an oversize idler :) I did the same thing back in 1982 to my smog. What will you do for the rest of the system? What I did was use 5/16 clevis pins in the inj tubes. Remove the long tubes from the manifolds so the inj tube will have the correct height when threaded back into the manifold. No welding or gluing required. You can put a BB in the vacuum hose going to the deverter valve & you're done...Joe

Originality / Re: VE3 bumper jack lug wrench

I guess the possibility exists that the wrench were different than a standard jack assembly, however no reason for them to be different. Universal- UN - I am sure supplied both hooks, (thus both assemblies), the VE3 model hook used the same grey hook with the added VE3 feature riveted on, then the entire thing painted blue - most likely to quickly distinguish them apart.
 Thank you James
You are in the time frame for the transition to the 70 style base.
Being late has made quite a few things different with this car

Most of the people on VCCA.chat say if you have pertronix, keep an extra kit in the trunk in case of breakdown. No personal experiance, just repeating...Joe

Need to know the build date of your car. Only change I am aware of in the lug wrench is that they went to a deeper lug hole for the 69 model year to accommodate the lug nuts for the SS wheels.
August 28th 1969

Originality / VE3 bumper jack lug wrench
« on: March 04, 2021, 07:08:19 PM »
My car is an orginal factory VE3 car & I'm trying to get the correct lug wrench back into the car. The car was built in Norwood so Universal was the major company that provided jacks from what I've been reading here. I have several lug wrenches but the only one I have that matches specs from another Norwood car is gray with the letter "U" on it. My jack base is also different than others have said about their cars built in late 69. Could this be the correct lug wrench for a VE3 car built in Norwood? Input please. Thank you, Joe

It will tell you the date of final assm. Your POP will have the name of the dealer that sold the car. It may or may not be the dealer that rec'd it. Dealer trades, so the NCRS will tell you the dealer it was sold to..Joe
