General Discussion / Re: Preserving seat belts

HBC and Ricks (and likely others) list reproduction seatbelt labels, if you ever need to go that route.  I have no idea of the correctness, quality, or if it's a "one size fits all" label.

I think the first reply of "I dont think so" might have been for your original question of "Does this seem too late for the car?".

Originality / Re: ENGINE LIFT HOOKS
« on: October 02, 2023, 10:36:13 PM »
Hi all - a little bit of a hijack regarding this post - but similar topic. I have a 1967 L30M20 (LOS 11A) with a complete and functioning AIR system to include the steel breather pipe on the rear of the intake. It’s positioned right over the bolt where the rear lift bracket mounts. A standard unit does not seem to fit. Was there a special bracket for the AIR cars? Thanks.

Here's a link to an old thread:

I seem to recall someone saying for model year 1967 the lift hooks were removed and a cradle was used at the assembly plants to move the engine through the dress process and to mate it to the subframe.  So your hooks would have been removed at some point prior to install of the AIR components.  This must have been in a forum thread, as I didn't see this mentioned in John Hinckley's assembly process article.

General Discussion / Re: 67 RS/SS w/AC blower motor wire

At the top of C60 E2 sheet in the AIM, at center under item #4 TAPE, there is a note B to coil and tape a production blower motor wire, to the harness.  Is that the wire you are looking at?

CRG report on original glass:

Over on the Team Camaro site there were old discussions about repro windshield trim also causing fitment issues.

I can't recall the exact measurements but a convertible windshield is shorter than a coupe, somewhere around 1.5 to 2 inches I think.

Here's an old and brief thread where a trim tag hole on a 67 was discussed.  There may be more old threads.

Maybe get a better photo of your windshield glass marking as well, and take a look at the other glass?

Originality / Re: White striped air cleaner hose
« on: July 06, 2023, 04:26:16 PM »
That's what I envision - something similar to a pinstriping wheel was used to mark the hose.  I recall the xxx patterns on those wheels, to grab the paint.  I wonder if the breaks in the stripe are to easily measure off specific lengths without needing a tape or ruler.

Except for 67 non-SS or Z28, which didn't get a partial VIN stamp on the block, and probably not on the trans either?

Listed as "Custom" and "re-creation" and modified in that 2019 listing.  The problem I have with these cars is after it changes hands a few times, these details are forgotten or disappear, and the uninformed new owner thinks they are paying for an actual RS/SS.  Even the last sentence of the ad states "This is a very cool ‘67 RS/SS big block, triple black Camaro with an excellent stance.".   The VIN tag is still a big issue.

I wouldn't do another thing to the car until the VIN issue is cleared up.  Most likely a new state substitute VIN will need to be issued.  The actual VIN will need to be determined and run by officials to see if it was stolen.  And then there's consideration on taking legal action for seller fraud, monetary damages, etc.  Have you seen the "hidden" partial VIN stamps on the firewall and under the cowl vent panel?
