General Discussion / Re: 97 camaro anniversary cars
« on: July 08, 2006, 01:59:30 AM »
They made 97 SS anniversary cars that were the white and orange Coupe and Conv. but they were not exclusive to the SS...
I know that the LT4's are extremely rare.

It is a special car no matter what... but the possibility that it was either a drag car or a dealer modified car exists...
There were so few L-78's built in 67 and most ordinary people did not opt for the L78. The performance dealers or drag racers were the ones who typically would have ordered a car like that, shoulder belts as well... to keep you in the seat.

ONLY SAYING that someone should do some homework on this one, it could be worth their time.

You have to divide those 1100 cars by the number of weeks they made them... from mid march till end of production... I believe I am correct on the begining date.

I can remember back in the late 70's when guys would clip two car and weld them together... usually a total loss from the front and one from the rear.
It was not all that uncommon.

I would have to say that it would be intent. If you are trying to salvage every possible piece of an original car possible... whether it is all but the 1/4's or whether it is only the roof structure and A pillars... then you would not be doing anything unethical. However if you were trying to take the "easy" way by drilling out a few rivets and attaching them to a new body then you would be guilty of a rebody... anyone... Bueller... anyone... JMHO

Originality / Re: Correct shifter
« on: June 25, 2006, 02:56:33 AM »
Wasn't there a problem with the muncie shifters binding up as well?
They were bolted to the crossmember or the floor or something... the hurst was bolted to the trans and even if the trans moved under heavy torque the shifter geometry stayed the same where as the Muncie geometry changed and bound if the trans twisted... seems like the problem would be negligable with a new trans mount... however if the mount got sloppy... shifting could get a little hairy,

Originality / 69 Z Engine overspray
« on: June 25, 2006, 02:47:29 AM »
What would have had overspray on it?
Were the finned aluminum valve covers on the engine when it was painted?
If so was there a small amount of overspray on the front, rear and side flanges?
The intake had a small amount of overspray front and rear... correct?
The bell housing?
The exhaust manifolds on small blocks did not have overspray like the bigblocks... right?
