Restoration / Re: inside rear view mirror resto
« on: June 05, 2013, 02:08:19 PM »
I recently purchased the replacement day-night mirror glass from Paragon ($40) and installed it easily and I'm very happy with the results.

I used a plastic pry tool to go around the edges of the rubber and get the glass to come out.  And then reversed it to get it back in.

The stainless backing cleaned up perfect using Nev-R-Dull, and I used some armorall on the rubber before removing the glass to help the rubber given it's 46 years old.

Two words of warning.

(1) Before I dropped the $40 at Paragon I purchased the replacement day-night glass from Zip Corvettes for $27 (I'm cheap!).  Well the Zip glass is NOT the correct size (it's about 1/8" taller).  My guess is this mirror glass is the one that's used in the reproduction mirrors.  Zip is not the only one with this incorrect glass.  So if you're going to do the replacement yourself I'd recommend going with Paragon as I know their part fit.

(2) Before going the glass replacment route I had order the reproduction mirror (from Classic Industries).  It looked nice, but was a hair taller as I mentioned earlier.  The reason I didn't keep it was that the mounting arm was thinner than on my original and it didn't quite stay "still".

Finally, there's someone on ebay who sells restored mirrors for $90 + shipping.  At this point I've spent enough on shipping and return shipping that I should have just gone that route.

General Discussion / Re: wiper refills
« on: May 29, 2013, 04:37:59 PM »
Another revival of an old thread...

If my photo attaches correctly could someone let me know if the wiper blade (Anco) appears original/correct for a '67 convertible.

This is a 3 section blade: 1 center-section and 2 end-sections.

No markings on center-section.  The 2 sides state: Made in USA - O.E. by ANCO   and then 5 U.S. patent #'s followed by 1955 - 61 - 63

If you look closely you'll see that someone bent out the right-side end-tab to squeeze a 15" insert (hack!) into the blade.

From what I read I need 14 7/8" refills.

Originality / Re: Where to look for build sheet on very original 67

Gary,

Those door edge guards are about all I got!

Here's a link to where the '67-'69 protecto codes reside on CRG (all the way near the bottom):

Exactly!  Perhaps I need to phrase this differently.

In what locations has anyone (or you know of someone else) found the build sheet on a Norwood built car?

I'm particularly interested in a '67, but at this point I'll take whatever I can get!

This isn't a big deal for my car as it's not a high-option car (and the RS shows on the trim tag).

And I have the protect-o-plate that lists the door edge guards code!

Thanks again in advance for any info.

Not sure if it matters much, but this is a very late build '67 (July - can't remember the week).

So it sounds like dropping the tank might be worth a shot.

I've blindly "felt" under the front seats and didn't feel anything.

Is there a chance it could be behind the front-seat back?

I should have noted that I've already had the back seat out (top and bottom) as well as both rear side panels (detailing...).

1st post here.

I've read that build sheets in '67 Norwood cars is rare.  But if I was going to take the time to start pulling things apart on my car where would be the best place(s) to start?

It's a 327 convertible with original seats/covers, door panels and carpet.

Thanks in advance.
