General Discussion / Re: 1969 space saver spare hook mount location?
« on: January 17, 2018, 11:01:26 PM »
My 1969 car is an early car, 11D of 1968.  The AIM UPC -10 is for a full sized spare, not space saver.  The AIM picture for convertible with N65 (space saver spare top of page 407) is very close to my original Jacking Instructions in the above picture.

abiddle,  My car is a convertible, so the position of the jack may be different in a coupe. The jack in your picture seems to be positioned too low.  Here is a picture of my original spare decal.

I believe the woodgrain trim for a convertible with power top is the same.

Garage Talk / Re: My First Camaro - What was Yours?
« on: September 03, 2017, 12:45:34 PM »
My first Camaro was a 1968 RS Convertible.  Had a 327 w/ 4 speed trans. Bought it in 1972 from a guy who thought the transmission was a 3 speed and was locked up.............. shifter linkage was locked up like the 68's did with the crossmember mounted shifter.  Not a bad buy for $300.00.  But, back then you could buy running, decent driving cars for $100 all day long.  I had the car painted and a new top put on.  I put headers, cam and 600 Holley on the engine.  Drove it for 2 years and wrapped it around a big tree.  I got a few stitches but the car wasn't so lucky, the passenger side floorboard was higher than the seat.  The only good thing was that I had just dropped my girlfriend off at her house, I don't think she would have done well in the crash.  Bought my 1969 SS/RS convertible the same year, but that's another story............

Maybe in 1968, but I don't believe 1969 SS cars could be bought with drum brakes. Power disc was standard.

I believe those are big block plugs.  The 'N' reach plugs will not seat the gaskets in small block heads.

That is exactly the way mine is on my 11D (early 1969)  SS-RS convert.  Just forget about the holes on either side of the rectangular one you can't even see them with the bumper installed.

Looks like a whole bunch of work, or more likely VIN and Body tags for cars to be built at a later date.  What a shame!!!

Here is yet another car with U17 and the rare clock delete option. I believe the assembly plants must have run out of clocks at various times during production............... ??? You think????? NOT!!
