Originality / 12 Bolt Brakes
« on: February 28, 2024, 05:08:36 PM »
Digging through old pictures of my 05A Z/28 with 28,000 miles and found these to share. Original shoe markings and painted hold downs. Spring colors are red, blue, green, and pink. Date code on the auto adjuster of 093 was on both sides. Inside the backing plate and all the hardware was bare metal.

Originality / 1969 Camaro Left Side Ajax Mirror
« on: March 16, 2014, 02:58:40 PM »
According to CRG the DMI is the more prevalent mirror, the Ajax was a different supplier with not as many being used in production. I am looking for left side Ajax mirror dated C AX 9, or a lead to company that dates with AX. I can find the DMI dated coded as repop from Paragon, but they don't do the AX. Anyone found a place that does the Ajax?  Thanks.

Originality / 1969 15" Trim Rings
« on: October 22, 2013, 06:18:10 PM »
I have searched and found out there were three designs for the 15" trim rings. The first is with the 4 outside clips, then 2 designs with full circumference internal clips. I would like to find out what date were the 4 clips were used till, and what is acceptable for Legends Judging. My car is a 5A and has 2 of each style? Thanks.

Decoding/Numbers / My Camaro's Birthday
« on: November 30, 2009, 12:57:11 AM »
I‘m looking for some help to see if I can determine my Camaro's Birthday.  CRG has all my numbers, but I am going to leave off the last digits here. 1969 Z/28, build week is 05A, body # is 32247X, and VIN is N64195X. I have the dealer invoice dated 5-15-69 so it didn’t sit around long.  I would like to know best guess when the body build started and about when it might have rolled off the end of the line. Thanks.

Originality / Original markings under the paint
« on: January 09, 2009, 02:12:22 PM »
There have been many pictures posted of factory markings that were found under the paint on the firewalls of Camaros. I thought I would post these pictures of what was found under the factory paint on my sheet metal after media blasting. My car has 28K miles on it, both sides front to back had been repainted 30 years ago, original paint on the hood roof and trunk.

These markings were done with a grease pencil and just a faint image was seen depending on the angle of light while looking at the panels. I highlighted the marks with a sharpie to show up in a picture, and only marked up what I could trace.

The right quarter panel had two areas marked up, front ( Alp )  and rear( /W&Bing ). During the paint removal a factory lead repair was found where the quarter attaches to the rocker panel. I had no idea that repair was there.

The left quarter panel had a mark on the front of the panel ( R Buw Z ) but no repaired area.

Besides the normally seen markings on the firewall there was ( Obb ) written on top of the dash on the left side.
