Does anyone know if the 67 L78 alt. pulley 3844100 is being reproduced?
Thanks.

Check with the 409 guys. That same pulley was used on the 63-65 high performance 409. Also check with the Corvette guys. It was also used on the 69-79 Corvette big blocks and small blocks in various configurations. Then there's the 65-67 Chevelle 396. That also came with that pulley (with AC and 62 amp alternator). Not to mention the police cars from the early 70's. Heck, it was even used on the 74/75 Vega!

But to answer your question, it's still available from GM. Go to GMPARTSDIRECT.COM and put in 3844100. $20.39 plus shipping!

Do you know the size of it? I have a NOS pully that *may* be it.
A quick measurement is 3.2"

Mike,
The OD is 3 7/32  3.218. I would think that there should be a part # and broadcast code on the pulley.
The 68 Z 1970831 is 3 3/16  3.187.

Ed,
Do you remember if there was a part # on there 38244100 pulley?
Thanks for the info.

Sorry I don't know the answer either. I don't even remember seeing one of those pulleys.

So, the question remains. How did the correct pulley (67 AIM L78 A4 #2 3844100 note torque for alt. nut) get installed on the engine dress line with no part identification? ???

Anyone with an original L78 ??????

Ed and Martin,
Thanks for the reply.
