While cataloging another Butternut Yellow car (I have no life), I came across a 67 tag with what looks like a special paint code for the top. I thought the Z designator for special paint began in the 68 model year. Or am I reading it wrong? Or maybe the tag is a fake? The VIN for the car is 124377L109849.

Dido on no life either...Butternut & British Green (cool combo). Not sure about the fake part.

It would be a cool combo, but I don't think British Green was available until 68.

OOOPPPPPSSSS! Got me there...does look like SP. Maybe the owner opted for a White Stripe or no stripe at all.

Probably Y-2. Not a very good picture of the tag, but it looks like a reproduction to me. I'm no expert, so I could be wrong. I'll bow to Kurt and Daniel.

It's been on ebay three times within the last few months with no bids. HERE'S the last auction.

Really hard to tell from that pic - but I think it's Y-2 (same type of distortion problem as that recent Z22 tag pic) and I don't see any obvious signs that it's a repro tag.

If you zoom in on the tag it appears to be an upside down 2 (compare this to the other two 2's & the other Z).
