I am looking for some info. on an early build P. Steering Rag Joint.  I have a 11A (66) built standard V8 Coupe with the N40 Power Steering.  It has a ground wire between 2 of the studs 3/4 turn around with brass terminals on each end.  This would be top side (towards column), and should be viisable just looking down at the joint in the car.  I'm in process of restoration and would like to verify the authenticity of this joint.   If any of you could just take a quick peek, and reply, I'd much appreciate it.  Thanks!!!!!!     Mike

I have a 10C, almost all original, I will take a look, and maybe some pics, and see if that helps you out.

There were two versions of the rag joint ground strap - one was all brass, and the other was a wire with brass ring terminals on each end.

I just pulled the original rag joint out of my 69 04L Pacecar, it has the wire type ground connection on it.  Its not visible with the joint in the car, I didn't even know it was in there till I looked at the joint after it was out of the car.

Mark, I'm like you, I didn't know it was there until it was out of car.  I'm looking at the pictures above, can't see it in the pics..  I was just assuming(I know the saying) that it would be visible, I just wasn't looking for anything like that.  Maybe there are a lot more out there than what owners realize.

>nuts4coke; Thanks that's exactly what mine looked like before I took it out.  The ground wire is "tucked" in around the center of the rubber disc.  Goes 3/4 of the way around, probably really have to know what you're looking for.
