Have a 69 Daytona Yellow Z28 with the yellow houndstooth interior. I removed the rear package tray and need to repaint the metal moulding around the rear and sides of the package tray. Currently painted a satin black. Sanding shows yellow beneath the black. I assume this moulding was originally painted body color?

Nope, that's overspray. The interior was painted after the body. The corner moldings were mounted prior to paint; there was no paint under them.

The rear window trim used the same suede finish as the top of the dash.

My corner (removable) mouldings definitely have yellow under the black. That is what led me to think the moulding should  be yellow.
Could not get my jpeg resized to send as an attachment. Will work on tha tlater.

No it is a Norwood car built on either September 29th or 30th of 1969 (09E).

That's a lot of yellow overspray; usually there is nothing under the corners. But they quickly rusted so maybe there was a slight process change. Here in WI it is not unusual to see badly pitted corners.

Sorry I couldn't post a jpeg. Couldn't get my resizer to work-it used to. I will work on that. I will repaint to a suede black.
Car spent two years in Kentucky, then 36 years in southern California, a year and a half in Oklahoma and the last several months here in Missouri.  No rust in this area at all!
