Bought a 67 camaro with a muncie.  While doing a preflight under the car, i noticed the speedo cable was disconnected.  Hooked it back up,  took a drive and the speedo goes tick tick tick faster as you go.  Is there a fix or a replace?

How does the speedo work? Does it jump with the tic tic tic?

I would pull the cable from the trans, hook it to a drill and see if the speedo still clicks. If not the problem is on the trans side, possibly a speedo gear. If it is still jumpy on the drill, could be the cable. I would inspect the cable, or just try a new cable. Beyond that probably the speedo.

lubricating the cable (*suspended graphite powder) will usually (sometimes?) correct that problem.....

Had this problem with a brand new GM speedo cable. The clicking sound was more of a groaning sound in my case. Anyway, disconnected the cable at both ends, pulled the center section all the way out and carefully applied liquid graphite cable lube every inch or so as I fed the core back into the cable jacket. Problem solved.

Corvette Central sells the liquid graphite cable lube - it's called "Kable-Ease"; one tube will last you a lifetime. :)
