The Color of the engine would be irrelevant to year.

I believe the 3 = 1973, the stamp under the starter will indicate build also along with the Casting date at the back of the block.

It's CE344177 so yes 1973 warranty or over the counter engine.

I just found out that it's going to a nephew. I hope he knows how to care for a car in this condition.
