Here's one of mine, the plating is what really makes these. They need to have the same finish as the valve covers. Both are a "flash" chrome with little thickness. You should be able to see the draw maks in the cover.  Tough to replicate. Here's one on my display 68 327...

  My Camaro's L-30 is set up in Day-2 dress. All my born with components are restored and assembled on another 68 block. Mine uses the black painted lid & orange valve covers, but it displays much better with the chrome covers & lid...
