My car is a 68 350 TH400.

Waiting on more parts so I thought I would hunt down some numbers to see what I have. For the engine, I found a few numbers on the block but I could not find the typical double code. I did find the one number listed in block casting numbers chart. They appear to be used for 327 and 350 in 1967 models.

Question: Does that mean this motor is out of a 67, or are the blocks widely used across other models and years and 67 just happened to use these particular blocks?

Is there a way to tell if it's a 327 0r 350?

Found a tag on the transmission left side up on the bell. I could find nothing that looked like the numbers I found on tranny tag. Any info would be appreciated.

Found numbers for exhaust manifolds. Is there a way to identify numbers on exhaust manifold?

Any info appreciated. Thanks

Yes, the block is a 67 (cast on February 1st, 1967) but unfortunately, it's been decked so there's no way to know what it was originally. However, if the engine is out of the car you can check the crankshaft flange and that'll tell you what it currently is (see below).

Excuse my ignorance, still learning here. What is decked? Also, so that means does that mean this came from a 67 Camaro, or that it is a possibility it came from a 67 Camaro?

Thanks

Decked means the engine block has been machined down as shown in THIS VIDEO. This is typically done when the engine is rebuilt.

Cool video. So maybe my numbers were at front passenger but were filed off during the rebuild?

It is a 1967 small block engine but it could be a low horsepower 327 and those did not get VIN stamped on the front pad.

Clean off the pad with some lacquer thinner on a rag, take hi resolution pics and email them to me at bcm66@cox.net and we can determine for sure if it has been decked. I am not convinced but it may be the case.

Corrected to add "VIN".

Well it says right in the ad that it is an SS 350 tribute, so it is probably not originally an SS 350 car.
