Hi

Is there an easy way to determine if the interior on my '69 is original?

I had a very small rip on the seat seam and took it to an upholstery shop. The guy said, "do you realize these are the original seat covers"?  Hence my question.

On the backside of original seat covers is an ink stamped mfg and date...

That must be what they saw when they fixed it. Car was purchased from original owner so I'm guessing the seats and door panels might be original. Hard to a believe a white 53 year old interior is original.

I was hoping someone could tell by looking at the pictures.

Standard door panels have vinyl on the top and leatherette paper on the bottoms. There is a break at the trim at the top of the panel.
original raised areas are built up of blocks of cardboard.

At a recent cars and coffee, someone mentioned that my driver door panel looked original primarily because it had the molding and hole for the remote mirror. He said he wanted to add one when he rebuilt his '69 but couldn't find a repro door panel that had it.

Any truth to that?

A remote mirror is a fairly rare option [7,771] so no surprise they didn't want to tool up for it.

Sure makes sense. This car has factory tinted glass (A0) and was certainly garaged.

I don't think the door panels are original.  Look like PUI gold version.

Agree. I think those panels are "too white" to be original.
