Thanks for the comments.  Maybe later on for the photos.

Currently I've been trying to nail down reproducing the gas hose markings.  I'd previously posted my first attempt.  To say I was not satisfied would be an understatement.  So tonight I feel like I'm pretty dang close..

Photos 1023 - 1025 - Bottom hose is the latest and greatest attempt.  Using archival ink pigment and making my own stamps I thing I can finally say I am satisfied.  Top hose was the previously attempt.  If there ends up being any interest I might consider marketing these since there are none on the market currently.  At least to my knowledge.

Updated hoses with what is a more robust dye for the stamp.

FYI, I have made a few posts on a couple of Facebook groups (I know..  I'm not a fan but I want to offer these hoses to those that might be interested).  So if you are interested look for posts in All Chevy Muscle Swap Meet, 67 L78 Camaro 4K cars only, & more.

Those look awesome. I'm surprised no one has reproduced and offered them already. You should copyright or license those before one of the bigger restoration companies get a look at them.

Last time cook_dw was active here was January 2026. Hope all is well. Always look forward to the progress on the preservation of this car.

Thanks for asking. I'm still alive just busy with life.  Not much in the way of progress.  I did finish the shortblock build over the weekend.  When I have time I'll post updates.  Here's a photo just for grins.

Nice to see you back! I've been wondering lately where you went.

Appreciate the replies.  As I mentioned I have been busy with life, career upgrades and working on trying to manage land improvements on a property in the woods.  Back to the car stuff..

BTW I am liking the updated version of the forum.  Makes uploading and editing much easier and more intuitive.

Photos 1026 - 1027 - 1969 '010 block.  This was an engine that had previously been restamped and I have since X'd out the stamping to save another person in the future to know this stamping isn't original but most would realize but I could not falsely misrepresent something without disclosing it first.  This is a 4.030" bore 4 bolt block as the starting point of the build.

Photos 1028 - 1029 - Stock 1178 forged crank that has been balanced and oil holes chamfered.

More to come when I have another free minute.

Very nice thread. I have a 1968 RS that I bought in 1991, that has been in storage since 1996. Work and general life and raising 2 boys from infancy through college took priority. Now that it's just me and the wife, and finally a covered garage, I'm about to get the car out of storage and start to work on it. It was drivable when I bought it, and mostly disassembled when put into storage. Your thread is an inspiration, and I'll probably try to take care of the smaller things first, to have ready when it's time to re-install them. I had the floor pans replaced before the car was put into storage. Other than that, most of the body is still solid, but needs a thorough cleaning and rust prevention measures / priming / painting / etc.

I have used some Evapo-Rust in the past, but I have also found that Jasco concrete cleaner (at HD and Lowes) is very similar, and cheaper too.
