Green lens on heater control

Was working on the heater control when a little green strip fell out , its about 2" long by 1/2" wide, and I can't see where it goes. I assume it gives a green tint to the control where the light are on. Where does it go and what keeps it in there. HELP.

I found mine after I put the dash back together. The heater control color is still not green, years later.
