Are the reissued 63 series stamped on steel as originals or do they now use aluminum.

The new re-issue black and yellow plates are aluminum, and are not stamped 63. From 20 feet away they look good, if you know the old plates you will notice the font is slightly different, and the spacing is off a tad. Those can be ordered for an extra $50 and then $50 extra a year.

I went ahead and looked at all my sets of black and yellow steel plates, many are stamped 63, I do have a couple that are blank.
