I have a 67 350 RS SS, 4MT camaro here, for all intents and purposes it is all matching numbers etc.
The engine casting date is K 11 6 ( November 11 66) and casting number is 3892657.
The Car trim tag says 11E ( November 5th week ) 4p (SS or L30 M20)
So far so good. Now for the bit that has me stumped.
The VIN plate is 124377L159786 , production records show that VIN was produced in June 67.
Seems to be off quite a bit compared to the engine build dates???
The partial VIN on the front pad is 159786 VIII4MV (November 14 auto w air & smog)
I note that the stamp looks all uniform in font and height on the partial VIN and the Engine code and the "7L" is missing.
The car has a 12 bolt rearend with the tramp rod.
Am I getting something wrong with my decode?
I have yet to see the car in person, working off pics.

Thanks
Wayne

Everything lines up as an end of Dec 66 car if it was a Norwood built car. But you say it says Los. Best to post a pic of the tag. Something is amiss.
Try to get a pic of the hidden VIN under wiper cowl panel.

So you're sure the car has a LOS cowl trim tag with an 11E date code, and it's not an 11B?  As mentioned, a picture will help a lot.

I'm confused. I have a picture of the trim tag for 7L159786 and the date is 06A.
The car had a POP but it disappeared about 10 years ago. Engine date was V1114MV, btw, though a BB was installed in it.

Hi Guys, thanks for your responses.
Yes it all ssems a bit strange
Here are the pics Ihave been sent
Aparently the partial VIN unber the wiper scuttle matches the car VIN.
I know the guy selling this car, he is genuine, maybe he has been swindled???

Here is the front pad.VIN looks to be a restamp.
Last pic shows what may have been part of the original VIN on the engine

Hi Wayne. Matt here with the Camaro. I have read through a few different posts about the vin stamp on my block, and how the 7L are around the wrong way. Seems like this happened a bit in 1967 on the 350 blocks.

Hi Matt

Intersting how Kurt has the same VIN on record with a differnt build date.

WayneinNZ

sorry the pics are a bit terrible, I had teh reduce htem heaps to et them on here.
I can email them to someone if they would like more resolution as they were about 2 MB originally

Mattj1233

Kurt can you post the pic of the plate you have 06A?

Mattj1233

I can also confirm the partial vin under the wiper area also matches

Also suspect is the Vin number on the door post. I dont ever remember one with the 12437 starting from the bottom. All the ones I've seen start at the top. You have to tilt your head to the left to read it. Cars Ive seen you have to tilt your head to the right. I might be wrong but this always has been my observatiom

The vin matches the hidden vin under the wiper cowl panel.
