Hello everyone,
A question for ya's, when exactly was the x77 code used in the 69' model year? I'm looking at purchasing a 1969 z at the moment and its confusing.. the fisher body tag shows a build date of 09D. Is this possible?

william

1969 Camaro production spanned 16 months: August 1968 - November 1969. X codes entered production December 1968 at the Norwood, Ohio assembly plant.

The VIN of the car in question will tell you approx when your car was built.. early (Sept '68) or late (Sept '69)...
09C 69Z28-RS, 72 B 720 cowl console rosewood tint
69 Corvette, '60 Corvette, '72 Corvette
90 ZR1 red/red #246, 90 ZR1 white/gray #2466
72 El Camino, '55-'56-'57 Nomads, '55-'57 B/A Sedan

Vin is late 69' 19N690704. The build date of the Motor is on the pad Boss where it should be but the Vin is absent in this location. It is in the area where the Oil filter resides.

Can anyone help me with this? I'm looking for anyone with experience in alternaThe Vin stamps on Dz's
Thanks,
Toady

Your question was answered by Kurt in your OTHER THREAD.

As he stated, the alternate VIN location is discussed HERE.

Can you take a look at this and see what you think?

william

Bad photo; too much paint.

Who cares? Pad stamp is all you need to know.

It would be significant being that the cowl tag shows x77 and the vin matches that of the block would it not?

Me thinks that rivet looks suspicious  ;)

I guess if the majority is in favour of a fake then it wouldn't matter even if it wasn't. Be too hard to sell down the road.. it does have a POP but these are common.
Thanks

william

Was built with a green interior, now black.

Tag does look real but the non-original rivet is a concern.
