cowl hood

I am trying to find out more about my 1969 Camaro and was wondering is there any way to tell if my cowl hood is original. my research that i have done so far says i should not have one unless i have a SS and didn't know it. but my research has also said i should not have a lot of the things i have. thanks for the help

The ZL2 special ducted hood was not available at the start of 1969 Camaro production. Ordering information was released to dealers around December 1, 1968. The first ZL2 cars were built later that month.

Earliest known car built at Norwood with ZL2 is N569358.

Earliest known car built at Van Nuys with ZL2 is L513754.

If your car was built much earlier than these it could not have had ZL2. About 40% of the Camaros built with it were Z10s & Z11s because it was a required option. It was included with COPOs 9560 & 9561.

All the parts necessary to add ZL2 have been reproduced for many years. I added ZL2 to my Z/28 in the '80s.

i have the center console gauges but no tach i have the 350 badges and it looks like my car was built in early Dec. so it should be a LM1 but it has a 10 bolt rear i also have a rear brake reservoir witch also points to a LM1  but i bought it in the 90s and the original motor was not in it. sorry no pics right now in the shop having winter maintenance work done. thanks   also has a black grill witch i guess was only available on the ss and rs options

here is some numbers from the car it wont let me post pics so i will type them out vin. if needed 124379n526943 cowl tag 69 nor131134 711 65 b axel vin or at least some numbers i found 8790 thanks

N526943 was final-assembled on or about October 22, 1968. That's many weeks prior to the availability of the ZL2 special ducted hood.

As Kurt mentioned, how many fuel lines are there? Look along the frame rail in the engine bay near the fuel pump.

my motor and fuel lines have been messed with a lot i will look but is there any other way to tell thanks

ok now how do i find out what motor my car came with

The car was born an 8 cylinder [the '24' in the VIN prefix]. Since it's not an SS and did not have a Quadrajet carb [LM1] it had to be the standard V8; 327 2 barrel.

The optional L65 350 2 barrel was added when the LM1 option was dropped, December 1968. At that time the 307 replaced the 327 as the standard V8. These changes took effect in production starting January 1969.
