As an update, John's out of the hospital after six weeks and now in a rehab facility. Even better, he's back up and running with e-mail!

 I've never met John in person but my mental image of him would be that he's not one who can be held down easily.
Always looking on the bright side in every situation, I can envision him being a car guy even in the hospital (the guy on the right under the bed).
