OK guys let me clue you in on something here:

For example on this car you may see all these "phone bids" getting it bid up to just under the reserve.... and then nothing?!
Why do you ask?
All the big auction houses Mecum, R & M, Russo and Steel they all participate in this type of shill bidding.
They are hoping the (artificial) interest in bidding it up will catch on or the excitement will build up enough for just one person in the room to raise there hand/paddle. This magically gets it over the reserve, or all of sudden with that bid you may hear the reserve has been lifted.

Its not magic, its business, and legal from what I understand.

This is the explanation on why this car jumped 100k, but then didn't meet reserve or sell.

Always keep one skeptical eye open... ;)

In the fine print of Mecums bidding info, it says they are allowed to bid up to the reserve. It might speed things up, but I dont like it that people that dont know think someone is bidding and its real money.

it was fun as I was there and the car attracted people all day long. the seller also had a cross ram rear brake Z/28 the did not meet reserve. he has sold 30 plus Z/28s. the owner was impressed how many people came up and told him they knew me and I had worked on their cars.

All valid points - I know I would lift the reserve for $100k profit in 7 months & most people would. (Especially on a +\- $60-65k investment!)

I think Bullitt is onto something there.

Not to beat a dead horse....but JM has certified & inspected hundreds (if not a thousand+) of first gen Camaro's. BJ has him certify their Camaro's & he has literally written the book on these cars. His certifications and reputation are beyond reproach IMHO.

something going on with that car....Clem was driving it across the block!  Clem what happened???
I guess more people believed me instead of jerry.   :D I know nothing about how auctions work ,i just know what color my own car was

Ok I have kept quiet over this whole deal..  Personally I always felt the car was EO and especially since you were the original owner it helped my opinion..  But the fact that you just keep going on and on and on about this because someone disagreed with you it has gotten ridiculous..  Can you do me and many others a favor and just shut up about this..  I feel you could be a great benefit to this hobby with your experience but your attitude and the way you come across on these forums is lack luster and as long as you continue I could care less if you didnt post again..  Just my $0.02..

And for the record it WAS your car.  No longer..

Clem,
You have been warned repeatedly about rehashing this topic.
I've deleted numerous posts of yours about it - and you don't even own the car!

Please don't continue to bring it up when your ban period is over.
