Did the 69 camaros have colored red, white etc line tires or should be the wide oval firstone tires

205-70-15 is the size im thinking about.  Currently has 245-60-15-s but they are worn out

For 15" the correct tires would be the Firestone Sports Car 200 or the Goodyear Wide Tread E70 15

For 14" Red and white lines available as well as white letter from Goodyear, small letter wide Oval Firestones (not available repro) and I think Uniroyal.
I believe the Goodyear Polyglas F70 14 is the current best available white letter tire based on correctness.

Polyglas? Did I miss something? I thought the concensus was that the GY Widetread was correct and the PolyG was not available till late year or something like that. Sorry if I am mistaken because I really respect James' knowledge.

Option PL4 fiberglass belted F70 x 14 raised white letter tires became available to order as of the April 1969 revision. Figuring a 4 week order lead time, about 70% of production had already been built. At this time the only '69 Camaro with factory docs showing PL4 has a Firestone spare. Some may have been built with Goodyear Polyglas RWL tires but no documented examples are known.

There were two versions of the Goodyear WTGT; with and without the size in raised white letter.

nanna nanna, nah, na ! I am not losing my mind! William, please clarify a couple of details, please. When you state 70% production, are you meaning ALL 1969 and early 70 69 type Camaros or just the 69 ending in June 69? Same question regarding only example you site, is this only considering a true 69 or including the 70's production as well? When did the phase out occur of the Widetread, as well?

By the time PL4 was phased into production about 168,000 units had been built; that's 70% of the 243,085 total '69 production. Not even Chevrolet considered units produced after June '69 as anything other than a '69 Camaro. The '70s were not ready so they continued building '69s at Norwood. There was no '70-1/2' Camaro.

The PL5 F70 x 14 raised white letter tire [std on SS] was never phased out. The Goodyear WTGT was one version; Firestone and Uniroyal also supplied PL5 tires used in production.

Hey, Thanks. Yes, I have never heard GM refer to the car as anything , but a 69, but in conversation, sometimes there is some confusion, so I just wanted to clarify this.

you guys talking about tires reminded me that I noticed a big sale on tires and wheels in a newspaper today....  :)
..
Oh wait!   That Sale might have ended....   :)
ps.  pardon the wrinkles in the paper... wrapped around rechrome parts for a few years does that.  :)

Loved those ads.  Thanks for the memories.

I was putting together a 57 Chevy Truck grill that I've had for ages; the parts were rechromed by Lemon Grove Plating (National City, CAlif) many years ago, and I'd never assembled the grill.   I don't have the truck anymore, and I'm trying to clean up all the parts I don't have need for anymore and pass them on to someone who does have a need....  anyway, I unwrapped some of the many parts to that grill, and found those old newspapers...  the tire ads I kept out and tried to flatten out...  Prices have changed a bit since 1971...   :)
