Inspection cover color

Could somebody tell me what the original color of the inspection/converter cover was on 68 turbo 400. The GM replacement is black, but that doesn't mean anything 38 years later. Some say it was originally black, others think engine orange, me I don't know. 

P.S any guesses on the pan color? I'm thinking bare steel.

The converter cover on automatics was installed at the car assembly plant after the converter-to-flexplate bolts were shot, and was dip-primed semi-gloss black; the inspection cover on manuals was installed at the engine plant, and is orange.
