That brings up another point. How many people would buy a car because it was a rare color verses a desirable color they liked. Personally if I'm going to spend that kind of money on a car and have to look at it all the time I want a color I like. JMO

There are a handful of guys on here that liked looking at it, and wished it was in their garage. Now I did not hear them say "I wish I had that car instead of my current Camaro".

I wonder if the original color controversy had anything to do with the low price.

I don't see that there was any controversy at all once all information was in...   we have the *original owner* attesting to what the car was, plus original paperwork all documenting the 'special color'.   The only 'controversy' was in the minds of people, totally unaware of the cars background, trying to figure out an original color for '- -' car while looking at a  run down 45 yr old car..

The paint code would of been ( - B ) , Not (- -).

I was using the '-' generically...  I don't remember even looking at the plate.   So what does the car have?   - B ?  or --? or ??
Clem did pay for the vinyl top...   :)     but the trim tag wasn't pictured in the ebay ad.

I haven't seen the tag either. I have a special paint car too with a black vinyl top and that's what my tag says.

Apples and oranges. My Z has been in my life almost 40 years ( in May of 2016). History with my Father, wife, kids...last link to my past as a child. And it'll see some more track time, some more memories to be made. And one day when I'm an old man, the "born with" exhaust will go back on, and It'll haul my golf clubs. So lets get it straight, there is no other Camaro I'd "wish" to have instead, just a few I'd like to have in addition to.

Not the big block 8 second tube chassis car I want, but a very well done Camaro with some history. Too bad it wasn't wearing a popular color....lots of junk out there does. I'm sure I'll see it  on the block again, cash not tight ,I'm bidding. ( hopefully after the 67/68 BBC tube chassis car!)

I think you're right; that's what his tag should be as well....

this a post from a auction appraiser.

The six figure Z's are no more. $60k for a nice restored car is top of the market regardless of what people are asking

I think it is a bit higher than that, if you factor original docs or originality. Nice original cars seem to have eclipsed the restored cars Z or otherwise.

For the archives (because the ebay ad will disappear) Winning bid was $59,100

Clem, you think that was all the money for your old car then?

Interesting to see what the market says later this month in Scottsdale.

Clem is a little light on value IMHO. 69 Z's have appreciated approximately 18% compared to 2013 and top cars are bringing significantly more than $59,100. I have a hard time believing it was actually sold at that value and if it was, it was a steal.

Then why didn't it get it? People wanting this type of car have the money at the drop of a dime. It doesn't matter the time of the year. If the right car becomes available there going to want it. I just think the color turned them off. This is JMO
