Charlie Mason paid Baldwin Auto Co. 5500.00 bucks for the 1 and only converted 67 L78 chevelle to a aluminum head 427 by Motion performance pictured in front on the dealership. He got 1 chevelle for the price of 2..  Thomas Mote gave 4280.45 to Baldwin Auto Co. for his  Motion prepped 1968 427 Camaro on 4/24/68 and drove it back home to MD.

Guys, did Yenko ever convert a black exterior 69 camaro with Yenko graphics? See reply #17
Vince,,, No, Don Yenko never built a Black 69 Yenko.  But, there was  dealer in Chicago, Douglas that had bought and sold several Yenkos.  Douglas struck a deal with Don Yenko to just purchase the Decals and emblem put them on COPOs that he ordered. Story goes that Douglas built 2 each of Black with White, Red with White and White with Black Stripes.  One of which was White with Black stripes with Black Vinyl roof.

Great info and can believe the $5500 for the 67 but only $4280.45 for a 68 427 seems extremely low as a L78 car from GM probably listed close to that. Any idea where both of these cars are today, especially that 67 Chevelle?

Found out from the NCRS report our 69Z came out of Rosenthal Chevrolet in Arlington, VA. Did not find much in the way of old pictures but did uncover this info. If anyone has more please add.

And a car possibly sponsored by them???????

Maybe I should rephrase that: I didn't realize there were aftermarket tear drop hoods for Chevrolets back then.

The Tear drop Hood (& scoops) was one the most popular in the mid-60's.

the ones I recall seeing weren't sold as 'complete hoods', but most speed shops sold the 'teardrop', for applying to the hood of your choice..  :)

I think by 65/66 complete Hoods could be had.  I hate to say the dirty word but (Ford) Thunderbolt had a factory Teardrop hood.  come to think of it I think the 63 Full-size 427's also had 'em.

saw a few on stangs back in the day, don't know the source. Yes you could buy a glass teardrop at the local speed shop and add it to any mark you desired.

Rosenthal is still around the DC area, I know they sell Honda/Acura and other imports. not sure if they still have a Chevy dealership in the area.
