Glove box light

I was working on my new Silver 69Z and noticed the glove box switch lead from the harness up in the dash. I believe I remember from my Gold car that that lead was just part of the overall harness. Were all the harnesses on the cars the same and the line workers just added the options to the cars depending on the specific car order? I read on this site deluxe interior cars got the glovebox light unless the car was ordered with the light package which would had had a under hood light and a trunk light along with the glove box light.

Thanks

Hood and trunk lights had their own harness.
For the vert the trunk piggy-backed off the license plate connection.
Coupes had a connection off the intermediate harness if I remember right.
Hood light ran its own harness to the horn-relay bus bar.
Glovebox was a single lead from the dash harness.
The AIM does not say it is reworked so it must have been there for all vehicles, used or cut off I would guess.

When I had my glove box out, there was an orange wire which I thought was for the glove box light which my car did not have.  It was covered with a clear rubber connector or insulator and was folded up and taped.
