69 4 speed console plate restoration

Anyone have any tips on how to buff out the chrome area's on a 69, 4 speed console plate ???  This is the area that has the 2 attaching screws, top and bottom. I would like to bring back the shine.  Thx

0000 steel wool with some glass cleaner or it might need to be rechromed
