Wasnt sure what to think about the I's instead of 1's.  Car is 12A, no x code.  Looks like about 3 weeks from engine to car build, didnt seem too bad.  Dont have the block casting date yet. I do have the trim tag

The engine plants were directed by Chevrolet Engineering to use the "I" character in place of the "1" character starting in 1957; seeing the "1" character is a rarity.

Comparing to other JH stamps, I'd say it's not original.....

Just curious..... How is the car being advertised? Original motor or restored to original?

13,000 miles original panels and interior, it does have aluminum heads so motor has been apart.  Its been painted. Weird how I found it. I am on vacation and checked out local craigslist. it was on there. I called and guy is in another state but his dad lives here. He found the car here. he told me place he bought it and I was headed there to look at cars that day. They thought numbers matched which they do but the guy bought it not knowing much. Didnt know about casting dates and numbers. So they match but match what!!

Its too bad it wasnt in this town. Now if I decide it might be right, I have to fly again!

Thanks
