My research suggests that the factory fitted 68 Camaro 'stacked' hood ornaments were painted in a satin black out around the outside of the stacks and in the ornament channels and also inside the thin channel running around the side marker bezel faces.
Can anyone confirm this?

I have original - unrestored hood ornaments on my '68.   Yes, there is satin black in the channel but not in between the stacks.  In other words it makes a rectangle around the 4 stacks.  I'll try to get a picture of them.  I also have the original side marker bezels and yes, there is a very tin groove that is black.

oh sorry, yes mine are the same - blacked out in the main channel only, around the stacks not between the stacks.
What about 69's, were they blacked out in the side marker bezel groove?
The reason I ask is that the side markers never seemed to come from GM parts with the black in the groove, unless 69's were without the black and it was therefore left to the purchaser to apply the black as required?

Original '69 side marker lamp bezels had no paint, and no groove; they were all chrome, with a raised rib around the lens opening in the bezel.
