Guys,

When reinstalling my lower control arms I have noticed that I only have two washers. I dont remember if the washers go behind the nut or ther bolt head. The AIM does not even show these washers. I may have gotten some washers mixed up in the bolt hardware while evap o rusting the parts. But if the washers are correct does anyone know if they go behind the nut or bolt head?

Thanks

There are no washers on the lower control arm attachments; the only large washers were on the ends of the upper control arm shaft.

Thanks John.

The AIM shows the threaded end of the lower control arm bolts facing forward, but when I looked at old pictures of mine before they were removed I noticed the threaded end faced rearward. I also spoke to firstgenaddict and he had pictures of orignal cars that also had rear facing threads. Is the AIM wrong or what?

Thanks,

Lawrence

On the front bolts, the nut is towards the front of the car.

On the rear, the nut is towards the rear of the car.

My prior post was per the AIM, but after looking at pics of unrestored cars it seems they were inconsistent (on the fronts at least).

The direction of the lower control arm bolts was optional at the plant's discretion - there was no mandatory directional requirement. My unrestored/untouched original 02D Norwood '69Z has the bolt heads facing forward on both the front and rear bolts.
