Should the P/B vac. hose go through the spark plug wire tower or use the bracket that bolts to the rocker cover? The car is a 04C 69Z.Steve.

It goes through the Z/28-only bracket, as shown in the assembly manual, Section J50, sheet A4, View "A"; see photo below.

Thank you,John. How correct is your picture?I noticed that the throttle return spring is hooked to the plug wire tower,My green spring is hooked to the coil bracket. The plug wire stand is to far away to hook to it.Which is correct?Steve.

There is a small ear with a hole for the return spring on the wire tower.

I see the tab on the wire tower. The green spring is to short to reach it.So I figure the spring has been shortened (But doesn't appear to be) or it doesn't go to the wire tower. The AIM isn't clear on the location.

On my Z, I cannot connect the spring to the coil bracket without it rubbing on the intake.  Look in the AIM, section Z28 A4.  The picture shows it clearly.  You might need to post a picture so we can see exactly what's you have.

John Z's Z (try to say that 3 times real fast) is all original, so it's correct.

Is the bracket a Z/28 item only because of the Z aluminum intake manifold? Only reason I can think of to make it different from other small blocks with Power brakes.

I believe the Z/28 P/S hose bracket is there to keep the hose off the throttle linkage.Which brings up another question,What is the reason for the Z only drop throttle linkage?

The "drop" linkage with the 2-piece rod is also used on the L34/35 and L-78 (as well as the Z/28), most likely to clear the drop base of the air cleaner. The rear half of the rod (that attaches to the lever from the pedal pivot) is the same on all "drop" applications, but the forward rod that attaches to the carb lever is different (one for Z, one for L34/35, one for L-78).

The drop base theory makes the most sense but doesn't the L48 use the same base particularly with ZL2?
