Talked to a guy this weekend that said he owned a 1970 Z/28 with a 302.  He said they produced 500 of these for that year.  I thought the 302 was from 67 - 69.  Does anybody no anything about this???

Yes-no 302 for 1970. He may have had a '70 with a 302 but Chevy did not install it.

Z28s had the 360hp/350 LT-1 engine. 1st year for an automatic Z28.

He may have a late-built '69 Z--GM had a strike that year and the '69 model production ran long. I think it could technically be a 1970 model, but the '69 body style. All the 1970 2nd-Gen Z/28s had the LT-1 350 as William said. Sounds like the guy is screwing with you... John Z will know.

I think they actually called the 70 a 70 1/2 because of the strile and/or long production run.

^5 68Z--I was referring to the '69s   lol  They could be '69-1/2s or bastard '70s.   Ain't this fun?

The 69 model ran long, but were never considered 1970 models.  Some have been incorrectly titled as such, but they were not considered so by GM.

No such thing as a 70 1/2.  The new body style, which was late to production, was a 1970 model.

The point was they were "referred" to as 70 1/2's, like slang.  I've got dozens of car mags with covers that say "New 70 1/2 Camaro". It was just to point out that someone hears that term and thinks therir 69, is really a 70, and that's how these "myths" get started.

As William noted, 69Z's had the 302, 70Z's had the 350. Period.
