I had a friend ask the question, "what transmissions came in the 69 Z package.   Was it possible to get an M20".  I told him I could not say but I am sure we can find out at the CRG website.  If is was available do we know how many were equipped with it?

There is no data on how many of each were installed in Z/28s. However an M20 is not at all unusual in a 69 Z/28; our db has plenty. There were even a few COPOs with M20 4-speeds.

An M22 is rare in any 69 Camaro; 2,117 total.

A 4-speed trans was not included with Z/28 equipment; it was a mandatory extra-cost option.

Z28s ran the best with an M20 trans.  Had the best gear multiplication, and the 302 needs that or they're dead!

Thanks guys.  Is there any place on the CRG that lists the gear ratios for the different trannies.

Thanks John, I will pass that information on to my friend.  He has a 69, that has several options for a Z/28.  The trim tag is missing and it doesn't have the original motor, but it came it an M20 in the trunk and an automatic trans with the small brake pedal.  He is trying to find out if it IS actually a Z.

If the M20 in the trunk has the cars VIN stamped on it, the rear end is a 12 bolt  BU coded axle with 4 leaf springs, power font disc brakes  and there is a single fuel line under the car then chances are its a Z28.
