Vinyl top for 69 -- what is correct?

Gents--I searched and did not find the answer so I am asking it here.  Apologies if I am the only one who does not know--I am a 68 guy, not 69.

What is the situation with some 69's having a space between the top and the drip rail and some not?

is it dependent on when it was built or were some dealer installed and that is how they did it?

All 69 Camaros had the spacing between the drip rail & the top if it came from the factory as a vinyl top car...Joe
