Oil Pressure Gauge Sender Line Label

In the process of re-installing the oil pressure gauge sender line (U-17 option) on my '69 RS Z/28 project, when I referred back to the disassembly photos I noticed a label / wrapper on the original oil line near the firewall grommet / piercing. Wondering if this label was used on the assembly line to mark how far the line should extend into the engine compartment (8-10" inches)? Thoughts? Any member with an original U-17 optioned 69 have a similar label in that location on the oil line?

Check out my thread about a 67 oil line and if it was clear or black.
I still have the line and the 'tape?' mark looks dark purple. My guess is it may be a foot marker when pulling it off a spool.

Thanks Mike, seems the '67 oil pressure line is quite different, as the total length of the line is maybe 3 feet I didn't see any other markers or labels at 1 foot increments on my original to support that theory.

Anyone with an original '69 Oil Gauge Line?

The grommet where the line goes through the firewall is missing on both of my cars but both cars have or 100k on them. Never knew the grommet was supposed to be there. Something I discovered in later years of owning them...Joe

Google Brady Marker, Vintage wire markers.
We use these on Electrical systems, cloth paper wire or capillary tube marking.

just a wild guess on my part.

If you clean it is there any marking?

Hi Jim thanks for replying, it looks as though there was printing on the label however time has taken its toll so its no longer legible. I'll have a look at Bradley Marker. I'm most interested in establishing IF a label was on the oil sender line when installed during assembly.

Do you know if the BB line and SB line were different in length? IF so I would bet it is an application sticker with a broadcast code.

The 70 up accelerator cables have a wrap around them with a broadcast code which looks exactly like what you have shown.

Good suggestion James. IIRC the BB line connected to a metal line at a fitting lower down the block relative to the firewall, so I'd think they were different overall lengths.
