My late 69 (8/28/1969) 325hp 396 has no resonators....never did. Also, the LH tail pipe has part number 3958459 which is the part number for the non chrome tail pipe. Both of mine are chrome. RH is a 2 piece pipe. Lower part is chrome. LH is 1 piece but only chrome part way up.
From what I understand this does not fit what is known to be correct. With the exception of the NOS muffler I installed some years ago & a 9" section I grafted in, the rest of the exhaust is "born with" to this car.

Anybody have any ideas why? Thank you, Joe

I didn't think the BB got resonators only the small block SS 350 and the Z28 after April.

One of the exhaust pipes was originally welded to the muffler wasn't it?

Both exhaust pipe are in one long piece. The next 2 pipes go over the axle to the muffler. The RH tail pipe is welded to the muffler. Everything else is clamped. The tail pipes are chrome...Joe

What you have sounds correct, the pipe was not welded to the muffler when purchased through the parts dept.

Are your pipes double walled?
I bought low mile take off exhaust parts for my Corvette and the pipes are double walled, which will change the sound significantly, it would cut down on the tinny sound some people complain of regarding non factory exhaust.
