I am restoring my late brother's 1968 Camaro SS 396, which will have an all black interior.  I have an N34 simulated walnut, wood-grained plastic steering wheel, and am wondering if this is the correct one for this car, especially since the interior is all black?  I thought I better verify it with some experts before I send it off to be refinished.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

Welcome to CRG! Sounds like a very special and meaningful restoration to you. The N34 wheel was optional on any model Camaro in the '68 lineup. More info here if you haven't already caught it: http://www.camaros.org/swheel.shtml

They have a nice report  you can read.

I believe the wheel supplied was independent of the interior style and color. The wood wheels look great on any year by the way.

Thank you both for the help, sounds like I'm good to proceed with this steering wheel.  I was concerned it might look a little odd with the black interior, but you have put my mind at ease.

It's a new month and we need new pictures for the home page. How about a picture of this '68?

Here's a picture of a '68 with a (custom, in this example) black bucket interior and N34 wheel, which IMO looks fantastic. Picture credited to https://www.69pace.com - you'll need to scroll across to see the entire image.

This is the current state of the one I'm restoring.  I can't wait to show you another picture in 6-9 months!!!

Tim, the picture you posted isn't an original walnut wheel. It's a reproduction. Originals can be found on the steering wheel page linked above.

Curtis, looks like you have a good start on your project, One of my best friends had a new '68, same colors and stripe  with a 275hp. We put a 350hp cam in it.

It will be LeMans Blue, as it came from the factory.

Ed good point but I don't think that's a biggie as the OP said he already has an N34 wheel, I posted that to show broadly how a simulated wood wheel looks in a car with a black interior, since he was asking about the appearance. The photos in the (excellent) CRG steering wheel report are generally close-ups of the wheels rather than a broader view of the interior. FWIW the seat covers on that car may be reproduction too.
But acknowledged, for accurate representation of a walnut N34, refer to pictures of originals.
