1968 Z-28 wiring problems

Please help! I have a 1968 RS Z-28 with deluxe interior and tach/gauges. When you apply the brake, the dash lights, console gauge lights and front parking lights go on. The turn signals, 4 ways, headlights and brake lights all work fine.

One other electrical issue I am having, the parking brake warning light does not come on when the parking brake is depressed. The wiring is all hooked up and the bulb is good.

This car is a survivor; with all original unmolested wiring.

Probably a ground somewhere in the dash pod or console ground wire beneath it on the tunnel and/or the gauge pods in the console.

I went through my grounds behind the dash and throughout the car. I am not sure what I did, but the problem is fixed. That being said, I sill can not get my emergency dash idiot light to work.the bulb is new, and the emergency brake wire is hooked up and the mecinism seems to be working. I also have the proportioning lock valve hooked up. Again any help would greatly be appreciated.

Make sure there is power to the switch on the emergency brake with the key on and the plunger in the compressed position.  When the brake is pushed in the switch should open up and ground out and turn the light on.
I fixed mine the switch was bad and the plunger clip was missing in action. I tested the switch it by running making sure it had power then by running a temporary ground test wire from the switch wire to the body.

I have see the cable from the dash to the rear get a short and cause that also. Replacing seat frames and door sills are usually the culprit. If you unplug both ends and test it with a meter it is pretty easy to rule it out one way or the other. I doubt this problem and your brake light are directly related.
