Is there a correct way to put in the ashtray assembly in a 69 dash? I want to avoid damaging the new paint.

I would suggest using plenty of 3M paint masking tape (the blue stuff) around the edges of the dash and ash tray door itself.  Install it and remove the tape...

Thanks. Was really afraid of damage. Is there a trick to getting it in right the first time?
