68 front bumper guards

My 68 has large front bumper guards that clamp to the bumper, and at the bottom bolt to the sheet metal of the car, like in this pic on e-bay  # 330056115326 .  I have had other people say that they should be the smaller ones attaching only to the bumper, What is correct ?

'68 used the large bumper guards both front and rear.

Part of the confusion might come from the original GM illustrations for 68 front bumper guards.  Under custom features the illustration for front guards looks shorter...
