Thought some of you might be interested in the Vette my brother and I just bought.
In the NCRS it is generally understood that Black was not available from 1970-1976, the old thoughts were there were ZERO cars painted black, that has been revised SLIGHTLY in the last 15 years... after 2 original paint documented 1972's were presented and then in 2018 the 71 LS5 was brought to light - I have shown the docs to the C3 National Team leader and have been assured there is more than enough documentation for the car to be shown in Black without fear of paint deductions.

71 LT1 ordered and delivered in Black - nearly 20 letters back and forth to GM Overseas distribution regarding the car, paint, the GM strike, car delivery, special paint price, etc.
42k miles original paint.
As of today there are only (2) 1971 and (2) 1972 Corvettes which are documented as being delivered from the factory Black.

FWIW this is the type of docs which are required by the NCRS to show a 70-76 vette painted black
without a total paint deduction for wrong color.

Just curious James...  but did you buy the car BECAUSE of it's special black paint, OR found that out after the purchase?  :)

PS.  'black' is my last choice paint color for any car!!  :)

Sounds like a nicely-optioned car and in an unusual colour for the model. But I can't see any of the posted images, just these symbols for each:

What pictures? I like weird stuff. Guess I should say stuff that doesn't follow the rules.

Gary...
I like Black cars... especially with Blue or red interiors.
Black over bright blue is my favorite color combo, there are a few Black over bright blue 69 corvettes known but NOT MANY!

I will have to resize the photos and upload them directly for some reason it is not allowing the links to show from Google images.

VERY impressive. The only special order Corvette I remember seeing was a '74? with "primer" stamped on the trim plate.

Can see the photos now. Beauty! Will you be able to save the original paint James?

Going to try and save the paint...
Would like to have it ready for Bloominton and Chicago next Oct Nov... but have a L78 pacer debuting at MACAN next fall as well, and I am planning on finishing a Duntov Award with my other 71 LT1 and getting my brother's Black 73 Vette ready for flight judging too.
